Governor Jay Nixon Announces $26.9 Million In Funding Through the State Small Business Credit Initiative For Missouri Small Businesses During Visit To WillCo Technologies

Governor Jay Nixon visited WillCo Technologies on March 22nd to announce that Missouri’s application for $26.9 million in funding through the State Small Business Credit (SSBCI) had been approved. Of the $26.9 million, $16.9 million will be used to fund the high-tech Missouri IDEA (Innovation, Development, and Entrepreneurial Advancement) Seed and Venture Capital Funds. The remaining $10 million will be used towards the Grow Missouri Loan Participation Fund. The goals of SSBCI funds are to stimulate small business growth and job creation in the State of Missouri.

WillCo’s De Barker Receives “First Ladies of Kansas City” Award

Mayor Mark Funkhouser presents De Barker with The First Ladies of Kansas City Award

WillCo’s De Barker recently received the prestigious First Ladies of Kansas City award.  First Ladies of Kansas City is an award given to a Kansas City woman who has made outstanding contributions to the community and to her family.  The winner of this award is a woman who has  consistently served the needs of others while frequently going unnoticed herself.  This award honors the women of the Kansas City community who have given to many, but who have been served by few.  The City of Kansas City honored Ms. Barker for her outstanding contributions to her community through the art of dance and dedication and love for her community.  Kansas City’s Mayor Mark Funkhouser and the City Council presented Ms. Barker with her award on January 6, 2011.

WillCo Technologies 2010 Minority Enterprise Development Week Supplier/Distributer of the Year

WillCo Technologies was presented with the 2010 Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week Supplier/Distributer of the Year Award on October 6, 2010.  MED Week is a celebration where the Kansas City business community comes together to recognize the contributions made by minority enterprises throughout the Kansas City community.  The MED Week Supplier/Distributer of the Year Award is awarded to a minority business that is at least 51% owned, controlled, and operated by a minority.  Judging criteria for the award was based on WillCo’s:

  • History, heritage, and major obstacles overcome
  • History of growth and business development pattern
  • Employment history and employee growth and job creation

WillCo is honored to have been a part of the MED Week celebration and thanks the MED Week committee and the Kansas City community for recognizing WillCo with this prestigious award.

WillCo Technologies was awarded the 2010 Governor’s Minority Business Award at the Missouri Governor’s Conference on Economic Development on September 16th. The award is presented to a Missouri company that is at least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by a minority and has been in operation in the state for at least three years. Businesses applicants were judged based on:

  • Demonstration of business development through significant growth and effective use of business start-up
  • Demonstration of improvements of internal processes for the business
  • Innovative use of marketing methods

Kevin Williams, founder and CEO of WillCo, stated “WillCo Technologies is honored to receive this prestigious award from Gov. Jay Nixon. We have seen tremendous growth in recent years and it is rewarding to have our efforts recognized by the state of Missouri.”
